SOCK IT TO POLIO: Winners are “”out of this world” and “chicken legs”

Satellites, planets and stars decorated Don Deatrick’s “out of this world” socks as he won first place in the Silly sock competition staged to raise funds for Polio Plus at the October 25 meeting. There was a tie for second place as Agnes Reading and Carolyn Hiatt showcased their “chicken leg” socks, one with a rare hard-to-find matching chicken purse! Eighteen Rotarians who dared to wear silly socks, mismatched socks and socks with sayings walked the red carpet to bring our attention to our continued commitment to eradicate polio. We had a lot of fun and received generous donations for Polio Plus.

There is still time to join the PolioPlus Society by committing to $100 per year until the WHO certifies that polio has been fully eradicated. Or just make your tax deductible donation by writing a check to The Rotary Foundation with Polo Plus noted in the memo line. You will also have another opportunity to donate when completing the Club’s 1-2-3 letter that comes to members in November. Until the world is polio free, every child is at risk. Thank you, Rotarians.
