On Saturday, October 28, 183 hearty volunteers met in the cafeteria at Pioneer High School for our Send Hunger Packing food packaging event. Participants came from many groups including:

– Members from the three Ann Arbor Rotary Clubs
– UM Rotaract members
– Interact members from all three Ann Arbor public high schools
– Reinhart Realtors
– Our community at large
– Friends and family from all of the above!

Working under the direction of Mike Burwell from Kids Coalition Against Hunger, the group worked hard in a fun environment to pack 30,000 meals in just over 90 minutes. A total of $10,500 was raised with support coming from the 3 Ann Arbor Rotary Clubs, a Rotary District 6380 grant as well as generous donations from our club members and the community. At $.35 per meal, this support went directly to provide the ingredients and the food packed will be going directly to those in need around the country and around the world.
