At the luncheon meeting on September 23, the attendees were treated to an entertaining history lesson performed by several members of the Club. The skit documented, with some artistic license, the formation of our club in 2016. The occasion was our 110th anniversary on October 1. The foundation of the performance was the booklet documenting our club from 1916-1947 compiled in 1947 by Rotarian and U-M Professor Calvin O. Davis. Click here for a scanned copy.
The skit highlighted the discussions by Theron Langford, the founder of our club, with several other local men to seek the charter that was granted to us as the 252nd Rotary Club. At the time, there were only 27,000 men in Rotary compared to over 1.1 million (including women since 1988) in more than 32,000 clubs today.
