Largest Rotary Gathering since COVID at the 20th Annual GPO

The Rotary Club of Ann Arbor (RCAA) held its 20th annual fundraising event this past Monday, September 11 at Barton Hills Country Club. The highly successful day and evening was a great time for participants and volunteers alike. It was the largest Rotary gathering since the COVID pandemic. The event also included pickleball for the first time thus becoming the “Golf & Pickleball Outing” or GPO.

For the evening program, Immediate Past President Mark Ouimet was Master of Ceremonies. He lead the attendees in a remembrance of 9/11 and lead the evening’s program. Current Club President Mark Foster discussed the long list of RCAA’s accomplishments over the past year. He was followed by Past President Joanne Pierson who conducted the 50/50 raffle that netted the Club $1,100. Featured dinner speaker University of Michigan Hall of Fame Coach Carol Hutchins kept the audience enthralled as she discussed  the history and impact of Title IX not just on college sports at U of M but on U of M in general.

Event Chair Roy More said, “What sets this event apart from most other fundraisers is that it does not fund the Club’s operations but expands the things the Club can do for our community in the coming year.” The event’s topline was second only to the Club’s 2016 100th Anniversary Gala.
