Rotary at Glacier Hills met Friday, January 18. After an effusive welcome by Past President Ashish Sarkar, Al Storey informed us on the history of the Pledge of Allegiance, after which we stood to recite the Pledge in its present form. The Pledge was followed by a round robin introduction conducted by Burt Voss among the approximately thirty Rotarians and Glacier Hills residents in attendance.
Vice President Rowney announced that Rotarian Duane Renken was to be honored at the meeting by being awarded the title Emeritus. Rotarian Dave Anderson enumerated some few of the many accomplishment and various community services of the honoree, Duane Renken. The Emeritus award and traditional Rotary blanket were then presented to the honoree by President Greg Stesjkal, in the presence of three generations of his family.
Past President Sarkar adjourned the meeting after listing some of the recent service activities of our club in the areas of health, education, and economic development. Following the formal closing, pictures were taken of the Renken family and of the entire group of attendees.
