The VITA Tax Clinic, operated by the United Way of Washtenaw County, just completed it first month of tax preparation. January was a month dedicated to training our 90 plus volunteers, and we had our first live clinic on February 1. For the month of February we had 2 shifts on Saturdays, and a single shift each Tuesday and Thursday. So far 317 returns have been completed, with $ 733,855 of refunds generated. The support from the Staff at the United Way and from our many volunteers has been outstanding, and we hope to set another record this year. Saturday, March 7, is “Show Me The Money Day” and will be biggest day of the season as we hope to complete over 75 returns. The support of Rotary has been a mainstay of the VITA Clinic, including volunteers Karen Gladney, Bob Buchanan, Paul Webb, Fred Beutler, and yours truly (Bob Mull).
