Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall at Concordia

On November 10, as we were hearing from Dr. Ginny Creasman about the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, work was underway at Concordia University to set up the mobile version of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. After the opening ceremonies later that afternoon, the Moving Wall was available for viewing 24 hours a day through Sunday morning, November 14. Though smaller the original memorial, the Moving Wall makes much the same impact in terms of honoring the more than 58,000 service members who were lost in the Vietnam War. The Moving Wall was created in 1984 and is displayed at various locations throughout the country. More information is available at http://www.themovingwall.org/.

The original wall was dedicated on November 13, 1982. More information is available on-line at https://www.nps.gov/vive/index.htm.

Another note is that the work of Maya Lin, the wall’s designer, is represented in Ann Arbor with her “Wave Field” on the U-M North Campus. More information at https://arts.umich.edu/museums-cultural-attractions/wave-field/
