The Strategic Planning Committee Wants You!

Strategic planning sessions began earlier this month and after four sessions, close to 50 Rotarians have participated. If you’re not one of those 50, however, we’d love for you to come to one of the sessions planned for December.

The planning sessions are the first phase of a four-phase process (analysis of current club landscape; vision statement; setting goals and priorities; implementation including communication, and progress updates) in creating a strategic plan that reflects the goals of the club and embraces the priorities of Rotary International. The sessions explore the current landscape of the club, identifying critical issues that exist and that could be affecting operations and current initiatives. The group then works through a SWOT analysis, listing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. These discussions have generated great thoughts and ideas, and the feedback is being captured to support the next phase of visioning and setting goals for the club.

The sessions have also been the platform for Rotarians to meet new Rotarians and embark on new friendships. There are also diverse viewpoints being shared by Rotarians that have been in the club for over 40 years to newer members that have joined in the past year. All wonderful perspectives.

In early 2025, we will begin work on a vision/purpose statement and setting the goals and priorities (writing the plan). The plan will be shared broadly for input and comment and then finalized. The final plan will have goals encompassing the next five years and an “at a glance” sheet for clear communication of the Club’s goals for internal and external communication. A significant part of the process once the plan is developed will be transparency and frequent updates on progress and accomplishments. Strategic plans also have an organic facet and can be updated and revised to reflect factors in the Club and the broader community.

There are additional sessions scheduled in December, including a session at the Union before the noon meeting on December 4th. We are trying to offer different locations and times to increase access and participation. If you have not had an opportunity to attend, please consider signing up for a session in December. Your input is valuable in developing a strategic plan that is representative of our club’s priorities.

Many thanks to everyone who had attended a session – wonderful feedback and conversations, and also to the Strategic Planning Committee, Kathy Waugh, Rob Shiff, and Dan Romanchik.

Hope to see you at an upcoming session! If you haven’t already participated, please sign up for an upcoming strategic planning session.
