Business Time during Programs

  • Daniel has been working hard keeping the requests for podium time organized.
  • However, last minute requests come up often – Roy will try to work those last-minute needs. Roy asked all Directors to inform their committees to keep requests coming in early.

District Grant Funding

  • The District provided a $500 supplement to the Club’s grant requests and the Board needs to authorize how that should be used.
  • The District awarded only about 60% of the grant request that we applied for. The District grants were awarded as follows:
Guatemala Forest Walks $ 895.00
Ghana Medical Supplies $ 1,258.00
DRC OR Renovations $ 875.00
Nepal Water Project $ 1,314.00
Ann Arbor Food Gatherers $ 1,314.00
Send Hunger Packing $ 1,209.00

To be determined $500

Send Hunger Packing Funding

  • Send Hunger Packing (SHP) is a collaborative effort led by members of the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor (RCAA), the Rotary Club Ann Arbor North (RCAA North), and the Rotary Club Ann Arbor West (RCAA West). Historically, each club has funded the event from their respective Foundation Budgets and RCAA has requested and been awarded District grant funding. For the 2026-2027 fiscal year, a grant in the amount of $2,000 was requested by RCAA North, but the District grant came in at 60% of that, or $1,209. SHP is further challenged this year by a significant increase in supplier costs and atypically low donations this close to the event.
  • Currently, donations amount to $12,605 toward the $21,000 goal. RCAA has agreed to contribute an additional $500 from their Foundation on top of their $1,000 initial commitment. RCAA West already donated has been asked as well but their Board has not yet met. An anonymous donor has agreed to match the next $5,000 in donations but even with that the estimated shortfall is $2,895, with 25 days left to go.
  • The board approved to Transfer $500 from the Adopt-A-Highway budget and $500 from the unallocated District funds into the Send Hunger Packing Budget.
  • A motion was made to use GEO surplus additional funds up to $2,400 to support Send Hunger Packing. Since donations are still coming, the board will determine how much of that will be needed during our November Board Meeting.

Nominating Committee

  • The Nominating Committee (Dawn Johnson, Roy More, Barbara Eichmuller, Rob Shiff and Kathy Waugh) have been working to fill the slate of officers for the 2027-2028 fiscal year.
  • This slate, in addition to the other positions yet to be filled, will be announced one month before the annual meeting.
