School’s Out! A growth year for Rotary Readers & Tutors comes to a Successful End

The 2018 – 2019 school year ended Friday, June 14th, in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Rotary members who served as readers and tutors this year can sit back, put their feet up, and bask in the satisfaction of a job well done. The program has grown significantly this year with 26 Rotarians involved, up 90% from the previous year.
The Rotary Readers & Tutors Program provides reading and math tutor to elementary students at Burns Park, Angell, and STEAM Northside elementary schools in Ann Arbor, and Beatty Early Learning Pre-school in Ypsilanti. This Wednesday the readers at Beatty will be recognized for their service at special classroom appreciation events.
Most Rotarians donate one hour of their time each week throughout the school year to working with an individual or selected students, but a number find the program so engaging and rewarding that they contribute two or more hours a week.
