Saturday in the Park…..

Part of the Object of Rotary is the “development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.” And while we have been keeping in touch via Zoom and email over the past 15 months, there’s nothing like a face-to-face meeting. With that in mind, Dan Romanchik and Mary Avrakatos decided that it was time to start gathering in person, given that many, if not most, of us have been vaccinated.

So, on Saturday, May  8, we held our first Saturday in the Park. It was a bit chilly out, but fueled by some Washtenaw Dairy donuts and some Bear Claw coffee, about a dozen of us gathered for some warm conversation at Veteran’s Park.

It was kind of chilly outside, but the coffee and conversation were warm. From L to R: Silvia Pedraza, Lauren Heinonnen, Ken Fischer, Barbara Eichmuller, Mary Avrakatos, Eric Lipson, Agnes Reading and Fanfan Zhang. Not shown: Amy Kilbourne and partner Edd Post, Larry Eiler, Peg Talburtt, Dan Romanchik, Fanfan Zhang’s law partner and her adorable daughter.

The next Saturday in the Park will take place at noon, Saturday May 22 at County Farm Park, in the Medford Pavilion. Bring a bag lunch, perhaps something to share, and enjoy the company of your fellow Rotarians.
