Once again this year, our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Committee (VITA) will be hard at work offering free tax preparation services through the United Way of Washtenaw County (UWW). This service is available free of charge to anyone living in Washtenaw County who earned less than $60,000 in 2022.
Led by Rotary VITA Committee chair Bob Mull, the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor provides leadership, financial resources, and volunteers for the effort. This is our sixth year providing these vital services.
The assistance program sessions run through April, 18, 2023 although assistance may be available after this date. “We are finding that due to the Michigan Home Heating Credit and Child Tax Credit that this service is needed throughout the year,” said Mull.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a national IRS-sponsored program that pairs certified volunteers with taxpayers to file accurate tax returns for free. United Way of Washtenaw County is proud to be an official VITA Site and assist County residents with tax-related needs. United Way of Washtenaw County connects people, resources, and organizations together to create a thriving community for everyone.
