Rotarians in the News: Bob Mull & Josie Parker

BOB MULL

The United Way of Washtenaw County selected Bob as its 2017 Volunteer of the Year. Bob started helping people with taxes in 2010 and first organized a tax clinic at United Way in 2012. Since then, he has been an integral part of United Way of Washtenaw County’s VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) clinic which, this year, resulted in over $1.3 million dollars in tax refunds for lower income individuals and families. JOSIE PARKER

(condensed from mlive.com article) Over the past decade, the Ann Arbor District Library (AADL) has earned a distinction as one of the best library systems in the country. AADL is one of just 13 libraries in the country to earn five-star ratings in each of the past 10 years the Library Journal has published its index, with its latest set of ratings released Monday, December 4. They are rated on five objective measures based on data the libraries provide to state and national organizations: Library visitors, circulation of materials, program attendance, public internet usage and electronic circulation. AADL Director Josie Parker said the library’s ability to consistently be rated among the nation’s best is both a credit to its users, and to its employees’ ability to listen to what they want from a library.
