A big thanks goes to the Rotary Road Waste Warriors who spent last Saturday morning along I-94 picking up all manner of trash as a part of the Michigan Adopt-A-Highway program. The Rotary Club sponsors the section of I-94 between State Street and Platt Road and twice a year we gather to clear up the debris that collects along the sides of the road.
64 bags of trash were collected and set by the side of the road for the MDOT crews to pick up the next day. Among the usual trash and broken car parts, the crew also found some notable items such as a five-dollar bill, a Barbara Streisand CD, a hub cap from an old Nash car, and some clothing and bed sheets! The event wrapped up with a delicious box lunch provided by the Relish restaurant at the Kensington Hotel. Believe it or not there is still trash along that stretch of highway and Rotarians will be back at it in the fall. Stay tuned for details of that event.
