Dear Ann Arbor Rotarian,
I am looking forward to serving as your next President! The Rotary International focus for the upcoming 2023-24 Rotary year is “Focus Hope in the World.” President-elect Gordon R. McInally says: “The goal is to restore hope – to help the world heal from destructive conflicts and, in turn, to help us achieve lasting change for ourselves”. He is calling for members to capture the world’s attention and lead the way towards possibilities far beyond our current expectations. My plan is to embrace that same focus within our club.
As you know the Rotary year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. Unfortunately, we are forced to pass along a slight increase in dues this year. This is due to increased costs from Rotary International, the Michigan Union, accounting services and adding back expenses for the Rotary International Conference and Large Club Conference that were previously excluded due to COVID. It should also be known that (in an effort to keep the dues increase as minimal as possible) the board decided to discontinue, starting July 1st, the option of continuing with hybrid meetings. This decision resulted in a savings of over $8,000. The issue continues to be under review to determine if there is a cost effective way for offering a hybrid or streaming access to the weekly meeting.
Under separate email you will receive an invoice for Club Dues which is due June 1st.
The following dues for active members were approved by the Board of Directors for Fiscal Year 2024 beginning July 1, 2023:

Payment Options:
Checks made payable to “Rotary Club of Ann Arbor” can be mailed to:
Rotary Club of Ann Arbor PO Box 131217
Ann Arbor, MI 48113-1217
- Bill Pay through your bank (no charge) add “Rotary Club of Ann Arbor” as the payee, include the address (PO Box 131217, Ann Arbor, MI 48113-1217) and phone number (734-808-1615).
- Credit Card option is available through the Club’s website, with a small surcharge to cover the fees associated with the service.
Your dues are currently your only financial obligation. In the late fall, you will receive an invoice for your Community Service Assessment (CSA) as well as the opportunity to donate to the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor Foundation and/or The Foundation of Rotary International.
We appreciate your timely attention to this matter! Beyond the need for some certainty in our budgeting, the primary reason we collect dues before the year begins is that our club is billed by RI and the district based on the number of Rotarians on our roster as of June 1.
*It should be noted that the RI dues also include the cost of the Rotarian magazine sent to each Rotarian.
Thank you for your dedication to this amazing organization. I look forward to all we can do together in the year to come!
Yours in service,
Mark N. Foster President 2023-2024
