Our Club was Represented at the WCC Foundation Luncheon

A day after the stirring presentations by two of our “Service Above Self” scholarship awardees, President Rosemarie, VP Joanne, and John White attended the annual luncheon at WCC. Also noted among the several hundred attendees were Susan Smith Gray, Ann Schriber and Collyer Smith. Collyer and Annie were recognized for establishing a scholarship in the name of their son, Cam. The event was hosted by WCC President Rose Bellanca, a former Rotarian and wife of the late Joe Bellanca. Joe had recently joined our club and was working on our GTO on the day of his passing.
Rose and her colleagues announced that the Foundation is now able to give 1200 scholarships per year and are averaging ten new endowments each year for a total of 300. Our club established two of those long ago. They are in addition to our annual “Service Above Self” awards. John has asked for background information and will report the results in an upcoming Harpoon. One observation: Although the entire luncheon was efficiently compacted into 75 minutes, there was time for more rounds of applause than at one of our own weekly meetings!
