All are invited to join ARC – AntiRacism Committee’s next Inside Look discussion at 1:30 on Tuesday, June 8. Our guest speaker is Professor Ron Woods, who will help us understand the Juneteenth holiday, why it is celebrated/honored, and how Ann Arbor will celebrate. He’ll incorporate questions and answers, with the goal to leave maximum time for dialogue.
The unifying theme of Professor Woods’ career is the belief that success in achieving a “more perfect union,” requires that we understand how the threads of race, law and culture, woven together, have shaped our history.
Ronald C. Woods is a Professor Emeritus of Africology and African American Studies at Eastern Michigan University, and a lecturer in the Department of Afroamerican and African Studies at the University of Michigan.
