We are actively recruiting people to fill ‘jobs’ to help with our public image. Commitment levels vary, and most positions are set up to be taken on on a rotating weekly basis. The more people we have to help, the less time you have to commit! Each job is very flexible and we can work with you to set up tasks based on your interest, schedule, and time availability.
1. Article Editor (through WordPress)
- Includes
- reviewing articles submitted by rotary members to the Editors for both content and flow,
- possibly writing content when just a few bullets are provided for articles,
- adding photos with captions that have been submitted to be included in the articles,
- and posting to the website (WordPress)
- Includes adding photos submitted by the weekly photographer to the meeting notes, which are submitted on Friday evening each week. This can be a “bite-sized” job in itself if you’re looking for something small.
2. Calendar Editor (through WordPress)
- Work with team to get information on upcoming events to be included on the club’s website calendar. Types of events include upcoming Wednesday meetings, Satellite and Glacier Hills meetings, committee meetings, social events, volunteer events, etc.
- Could be as simple as being forwarded an email with meeting information and then copying/pasting it to the website.
- This job is more of a single-person, long-term position, rather than a weekly rotating position. However, it takes much less time that the Article Editor and requests for posting are more sporadic.
3. Harpoon Editor (through Constant Contact)
- Work between Friday evening and Sunday evening to prepare the weekly Harpoon newsletter for distribution by Monday morning each week, on a weekly rotating basis (i.e. if we have 4 Harpoon Editors, you would be responsible for one Harpoon every 4 weeks).
- Add short descriptions of and links to the website for new articles, upcoming meetings and calendar events, volunteer opportunities, etc.
- Generally takes about an hour on the weekend to prepare the Harpoon
4. Social Media Editor (Facebook for now, potentially to expand to Instagram at a later time)
- Work to copy/paste article and event links from each Monday’s Harpoon to Facebook, with a short clever caption, each week on a rotating basis.
- Requires having your own Facebook account, through which you are then granted Editor/Admin access to the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor’s Facebook page.
- Takes about 30-60 mins 1 day a week, as you can schedule posts to be published on future days of the week automatically.
