Report from the District 6380 Gala

District 6380 Gala
Three Toasts and Bringing Home the Bacon. . . .

It was great to be together with so many District 6380 Rotarians celebrating the good that we are doing in the world!   But first we stood and raised our glasses to the Queen, then to the President of the US and finally to Rotary International.  The “three toast tradition” acknowledges that District 6380 straddles the border of Canada and the US but still we are united as one with Rotary as a common denominator.

The ten members of the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor in attendance had a lot to celebrate that night since we were awarded and received six checks supporting our 2018-19 District Grants.  Director Susan Froelich accepted the checks on behalf  of our Club for the following projects:

Support for the Student Creative Writing Program at 826 Michigan
Club Contribution:  $1,900  District Grant: $950

Backpacks and school supplies for homeless students at Avalon Housing
Club Contribution:  $3,100  District Grant: $1,550

Install electrical service and train apprentices in Nicaragua
Club Contribution:  $2,000  District Grant: $1,000

Support for UM Rotaract service project in Honduras
Club Contribution: $3,000   District Grant:  $1,500

Community based rehabilitation in Gabon, Central Africa
Club Contribution: $2,000   District Grant: $1,000

Primary School improvements in Congo
Club Contribution: $3,000   District Grant: $1,500

Finally, the Club received an award for its continued giving to polio eradication.  A good time was had by all!
