On Thursday evening, your Rotary Club bowling team turned in its best performance of the year and bested the Not ADP team 35-5 to take the first place championship in the Ann Arbor Service Clubs Bowling League.
The situation did not look all that rosy going into the match. Not ADP had overtaken our team the week before, dropping us down to second place. And we knew it was going to be a tough match when we saw the Not ADP lineup. They had the best bowlers on their roster for this match.
That didn’t deter us, though. Led by kegler-in-chief Dick Elwell (right) and anchored by Dan Romanchik, our lineup included Chris Georgandellis, Norm Herbert, and Sara Maddock. (Spaulding Clark and Collyer Smith are also on the roster but did not bowl on Thursday). All five of us exceeded our averages and, in the process, “bowled over” our opponents. We won the first game by 33 pins, the third game by 69 pins, and the second game by 239 pins!
League play starts again on Thursday, January 10 at 6:30 pm and continue through the end of April. At the end of the year, we’ll bowl the second-half champions for the title.
If you’re free on a Thursday evening, consider coming down to Revel ‘n Roll on South Industrial Ave. and having a beer or to just root us on.
GO (ROTARY) BLUE!
