RCAA Hosts Armenian Journalists for a Day in Ann Arbor

Five Armenian journalists, along with their interpreter and a representative of the State Department, are being hosted for a week by the Detroit Rotary Club. They are here associated with a US Library of Congress Program called Our World. The Program allows the professionals from the emerging Democracies to come to the US and learn about how to enhance their skills in the specific areas of their expertise.

These 5 journalists, who work in the fields of Radio and TV broadcasting, will visit various TV and Radio Stations in the greater Detroit area to see the similarities and contrasting features among them.

Our Club hosted them in cooperation with Michigan Radio and Community Television Network. Several Rotarians from our club joined to welcome the delegation. Steve Schram and his colleagues hosted them at Michigan Radio for entire morning discussing programming, budget, funding sources and licensing issues. After hosting a box lunch, the delegation was given a driving tour of the University of Michigan campus. Then they attended a similar session at CTN hosted by Greg McDonald, the general manager. They returned to Detroit with their hosts from the Detroit Rotary Club after their visit.

The delegation was very impressed with the sessions and what they learned here in Ann Arbor. It was most interesting for the Rotarians who attended. Thanks to Ed Hoffman, Eric Lipson, Dave Keosaian, Rosemarie Rowney, Norma and Ashish Sarkar for their participation.
