The Board of Director’s Meeting was held on Wednesday, August 17. On the final day of the month our club had 223 Active Members, plus 22 Emeriti. Attendance for the month’s two meetings was 26% (down 3% from last month). Average attendance at each meeting was 58 members and 7 guests. Average in person attendance was 26 and average Zoom attendance was 39. Our Engagement Ratio for the month was 37% (down 11% from last month. Discussion for the board included approval of five individuals for Emeritus status (Ann Schriber, Wayne Colquitt, Bob Holmes, Dave McDowell, Dave Williams). For the month of July, we ended with seven reinstatements and one termination.

Year-end financials are still in the works. The books look good there is a delay in pushing out the closing/opening of journal entries to clean up the books for the start of the fiscal year.

We have forged into the 21st century with a new attendance system for our weekly meetings. The club recently purchased a barcode scanner and gave it a test run at our August 10th meeting. Please be sure to check in with the attendance taker when you come to the in-person meetings so you can be counted! Zoom participants are still being counted as usual. Please register on Zoom with your full name and check in the chat when you arrive.

The board discussed a need to update our Strategic Plan for the endowment and the club itself. Our new District Governor Bala Murthy is urging clubs to move forward with this effort. A strategic plan will help solidify the club’s goals as presidents turn over each fiscal year. Increasing membership will be a key feature of our new plan. Our club is down 30% from membership. John Sepp has filled all of the membership committee vacancies himself, including taking over as Membership Chair in the interim. We are looking for a new chair for Engagement Subcommittee and the Membership committee in general. If you are interested in joining the Membership Committee, please contact John Sepp. He will be happy to hear from you!
