To all Tutors and Potential Tutors:
As Jim Egerdahl is taking a much needed break competitive sailing in Lake Superior- I have offered to help out-

I believe all of us understand the need for tutors this coming school year has never been greater- this pandemic has knocked our kids further behind. Helping our kids get back on a firm educational foundation will reverberate in our community. Our motto is, after all, Helping Kids Succeed.
I wanted to share a quick update regarding the ability for AAPS to welcome back in-person volunteers for the fall.
From Nancy Shore:

Strategic Partnership and Volunteer Coordinator
AAPS Community Division
I should be able to provide you with specific direction around in-person volunteering in Mid-August when AAPS releases their COVID plan. This is a required document that has to be completed. This document will provide guidance on visitors to our buildings, including volunteers.
I am optimistic that the guidance will allow frequent volunteers to return.
If we are able to bring back in person volunteers, please be aware of the following:
- We will likely require every frequent volunteer to show proof of vaccination
- We will follow COVID-19 Guidance from the AAP, which recommends masks for all individuals in a school, regardless of vaccination status. So wearing a mask while volunteering may be required.
- We will likely wait to start placing volunteers until Early/Mid October to allow schools to adjust to this new normal. If your course/program requires a set number of service learning hours, please keep this in mind.
While this is still general information, I wanted to give you a chance to consider these items as you plan for the coming year.
I hope we can get a core group of tutors for the year. The need has never been greater.
