Christopher Taylor is an American attorney and politician who has served as the Mayor of Ann Arbor, Michigan, since November 2014. A member of the Democratic Party, he is currently serving his third term, which is set to run through 2026.
He is a partner at the law firm Hooper Hathaway in Ann Arbor, specializing in estate planning and small business representation.
He is a quadruple graduate of the University of Michigan with a B.A. in English, a B.M.A. in Vocal Performance, an M.A. in American Legal History, and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Law Review.
Mayor Taylor’s administration has focused heavily on sustainability, infrastructure, and social equity:
• A2ZERO Climate Plan: Leading the city’s ambitious goal to reach community-wide carbon neutrality by 2030, which has earned Ann Arbor recognition as “America’s Climate City.”
• Affordable Housing: He has championed the development of over 1,000 units of permanently affordable housing on municipal land to address the city’s housing crisis.
• Public Safety: Under his tenure, the city developed an unarmed public safety response program to supplement traditional emergency services.
• LGBTQ+ Inclusion: The city has earned a perfect score on the Municipal Equality Index for 10 consecutive years during his leadership.
