There are currently 30 members who have not yet paid their dues. We will continue to work on contacting them. Most people are planning to pay but have not yet received it.
Bicentennial Update – Joyce Hunter attended the naming of the park on July 11th. There was a total of 5 members in attendance. She will be kept in touch for future activities regarding the Bicentennial and will inform the club of these opportunities.
Survey for alternating meeting days – 75% of the respondents are in favor of exploring this. John White will check with other large clubs to find out what they are doing. We will have to keep the U-M contract in mind if we are interested in making these changes. The board discussed various ways this could work, including focusing on summer months only.
Yoga Retreat – 60 people have signed up to date. We have a capacity of 70 people – so there’s room for 10 more. 40 people who have signed up are not current club members. This provides a wonderful opportunity to introduce our club to these individuals.
Social Time prior to weekly meetings – In the past, Zoom meetings would begin at noon to allow people to socialize and catch up before the business meeting. The board discussed bringing this back.
GPO Update – Plans for this are well underway! Committees are meeting regularly, and people are signing up. We are encouraging members to sign up before the early bird special ends on July 1. To date, we have received sponsorships totaling $28,000 (our goal is to be twice that). The auction committee is trying something new this year with the in-person silent auction: we will be using QR codes for most auction items and individuals will bid on their phones. This will avoid long check-out lines at the end of dinner and allow more time for our speaker, Barbara McQuade to hold her book signing at the end of the night. Technical people will be available to assist during the silent auction.
