Getting ready to SEND HUNGER PACKING!

On the bright but chilly morning of October 15, four RCAA members traveled to Livonia to take part in a food packing event similar to the one to be hosted by the three Ann Arbor Rotary Clubs on Saturday, November 5. Their purpose was to observe, participate, and take notes to make our session more efficient, productive, and fun.

This event was organized by a collection of service clubs in Livonia, including Rotary and Interact. This was their eighth year. It was supported by Kids Coalition Against Hunger, our partner on Nov. 5. Our visitors (see photo below) were welcomed and treated to cider and donuts but quickly put to work scooping, bagging, weighing, and sealing the 14 ounce packets of dried ingredients for one-pot meals. Overall, 169 volunteers packed 50,000 meals in about two hours! Our goals are 150 volunteers packing 30,000 meals in 90 minutes.

Our visitors learned a lot and are pumped up for our event. Are you ready to join with monetary donations and/or a couple hours of volunteer work on a Saturday morning? Click here to learn more and sign up.

Fanfan, Leo, Arthur, and John were fulfilled by this experience and are excited for our event
Food packing is fun for all ages (elementary school and up).
