Before COVID, our club conducted an annual survey of the membership early in the new calendar year. The results provided the Board with information and recommendations that supported program planning and budgeting for the upcoming Rotary year.
Enthusiastic new Rotarian Rona Hu has connected us with a graduate-level, semester-long class offered through the U-M’s Institute for Social Research (ISR). Students in the SurvMeth 670: Design Seminar divide up into small groups to help organizations within and outside the University develop, create, and analyze surveys. Rona, along with President Dawn and John White, has made our pitch and we have five students who will be working with us.
We provided our team with past surveys and background on Rotary and our Club. Here’s the schedule for the remainder of the process:
Monday, February 23 – The team will submit their draft questionnaire with our feedback expected promptly for them to make the final edits
Monday, March 2 – The survey will be fielded and open for inputs from our current Rotarians. At that time, the team will begin working on a questionnaire for possible and prospective members.
Monday, March 16 – The survey of current members closes. The team will submit the draft questionnaire for the possible and prospective members.
by Monday, March 30 – The results and analyses from the survey will be submitted to us for feedback. We will have provided input on the questionnaire for possible and prospective members.
Thursday, April 2 – The team’s final presentation
by Thursday, April 16 – All deliverables will be finalized
Thanks to Rona for making this connection with ISR. The professors and students will ensure this survey can get our Board useful information in a timely and efficient manner. In turn, the value of the results will be determined by the responsiveness, thoughtfulness, and candor of those surveyed. Please be ready to do your part when the survey period opens on March 2. Thanks!
