Emily Olson, new Administrative/Financial Manager for RCAA

I am pleased to announce that Emily Olson has been hired to fill the position of Administrative/Financial Manager for RCAA. She will be working with outgoing Executive Director, Lori Walters, and RCAA volunteer leadership during the month of March for her initial training. Please find below, in her own words, a brief introduction to Emily, her work experience and the skills she brings to this position.

Please give Emily a hearty and most welcoming greeting as you meet her on Zoom and in person at our weekly meetings. We look forward to having her assistance to aid us in accomplishing all the great things we do in the name of Rotary as we serve to change lives.

Susan Froelich, RCAA President 2021-2022

Executive Director Lori Walters, Administrative/Financial Manager Emily Olson, and Ken Fischer

Dear RCAA Members:

I have been deeply invested in the Ann Arbor community for decades, with years of experience performing as a professional musician in the Ann Arbor Symphony and as a private music teacher. I’ve coordinated volunteer, student, and administrative services for many local organizations, including the Ann Arbor Civic Theatre, Ann Arbor Symphony, and the Community Music School. I’ve also worked to promote the field of therapeutic music in healthcare, serving as a bedside musician for Arbor Hospice and the University of Michigan Health System.

I honed my leadership and organizational skills during my four-year tenure as the Senior Admissions Counselor for the UM School of Music, Theatre & Dance. In addition to advising students in all aspects of the admission process, financial aid, orientation, and campus life, I provided administrative support for associate deans, faculty, and staff in the development and implementation of recruiting and enrollment initiatives. I also served as the Technology Lead for the Admissions Office.

Rotary’s “Service Above Self” motto truly resonates with my own dedication to community service. For over fifteen years, I’ve been devoted to the philanthropic mission of the Friends of the Children’s Creative center (CCC), an Ann Arbor based non-profit trust that benefits low-income and at-risk students and their families. In my role there as the Financial Trustee, I partnered with the Owner and Director on strategic planning for special events, managed the financial accounts for the Trust, and oversaw the marketing and communications outreach for all fundraising efforts. I also designed, created, and managed our website and digital communication platforms to maximize engagement and giving opportunities.

I envision advancing Rotary’s mission with the same passion and integrity I’ve brought to all my career endeavors and I look forward to meeting and working alongside RCAA members.

Sincerely, Emily Olson
