A Brief History of Refugee Resettlement Globally and Locally

This presentation presents data about the refugee crisis globally, identifying where refugees come from and which are the primary host countries. Data will also be presented about the number of refugees America has admitted over the past 45 years, the process of becoming designated as a refugee, and how much it costs the US Government to admit refugees into this country. Next, HIAS, the national agency that funnels refugees to JFS of Washtenaw County will be discussed, and then the work of JFS generally. Finally, the speaker will talk about how JCOR came to be, the work they do, and the families they have resettled in Washtenaw County. The JFS Director of Resettlement, Shrina Eadeh, will talk about the current state of refugee resettlement nationally and locally.
