Rotarian Yolanda Whiten is the CEO of the Ann Arbor Community Center, a century-old nonprofit. The Center was recently selected by the U-M Credit Union (UMCU) as its Charity of Choice for the 2023 holiday season. On February 5, Yolanda accepted a $5,000 check from their Shop Local Give Local campaign.

Late in the year, UMCU participated with the Community Center in the distribution of 130 Thanksgiving baskets. For Christmas, the Center adopted 67 families. It was tons of work that began in September. There were lots of businesses that helped by adopting families, too. They made certain every person living in the home received gifts to teach the children about giving AND receiving.
