Every year, Rotary Club of Ann Arbor Awards scholarships to deserving high school graduates to continue their post-secondary education.
The STRIVE program is named from it’s acronym which is Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education. Our committee works exclusively with the Pathways to Success Academic Program and their senior students. The faculty at that school identifies students that have a desire to attend Washtenaw Community College. Rotarians on this committee pair up with these students and provide mentorship to each throughout their senior year. Once a month we meet with these students and present talks on topics ranging from personal finance to navigating college life. Throughout this process we get to know our mentees and provide one-on-one counseling to foster interest in various career paths and educational programs. The ultimate goal of our committee is to champion the value of education and help provide them, through our mentorship and financial scholarships, the clearest path to a college education.
This is a great way to see, first hand, the work that Rotary does in the community.
