Each summer, Rotary Club of Ann Arbor provides a grant of up to $5,000 to a local non-profit for a project that incorporates Rotary volunteers in its execution. The program is selected from proposals submitted to the Community Allocations Committee. Our grant is then submitted for a 50% match from Rotary District 6380.
This year, we have chosen a project from Avalon Housing aimed at equipping school-aged at-risk youth who live in Avalon’s supportive housing units with the essential academic tools and supplies that they need to sustain them throughout the school year.
Volunteers from the Community Allocations Committee will assist in the actual purchase of these school supplies and deliver them to the assembly point.
Four to Six additional volunteers are needed from 9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24 to assist in loading the supplies into backpacks at Avalon’s Carrot Way Community Center, 31 Carrot Way, Ann Arbor. Volunteers may participate during all or only a portion of the four hour work period.
