VITA returns $1M to local taxpayers

This year was a big year for VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program at the United Way of Washtenaw County. This tax season, VITA completed 528 tax returns, 14% more than the prior year. These returns yielded refunds totaling $967,000 and helped taxpayers avoid  $130,000 of tax preparation fees.

Eighty one volunteers, including 6 from our club, logged in 1,350 hours of volunteer service.  Many thanks to Club members Bob Buchanan, Karen Gladney, Paul Webb, Steve Pierce, Robert Mull, Griff McDonald, and John Chamberlin (member Marsha Chamberlin’s husband).
