Our club has had the opportunity to hear about the Tiny Homes in Detroit, a community of small living spaces created to serve those who experience housing insecurity in the city, including the formerly homeless, senior citizens, and young people just out of foster care. Our very own Ed Wier designed one of the tiny homes and has been working with Cass Community Social Services, the organization spearheading the project. You may recall that our club did service projects on their site in March and early June to help with site cleanup and preparation for their next phase of construction.
Our club, along with members of the Detroit Rotary Club and other interested community members are invited to participate in another site cleanup on Saturday, June 23rd, starting at 9AM. Clean-up activities will be outdoors and will include manual labor.
There will be an opportunity to carpool to the site, and we will be meeting at 8AM in the Briarwood parking lot behind Sears. We will work for 3-4 hours and then return.
