Take the “Ann Arbor Rotary Challenge!” (an invitation from John White) – This one doesn’t involve a bucket of ice water dumped on your head so please read on. What I am suggesting is that you take on the challenge of wearing your Rotary pin every day for a week or so. The idea is to see if anyone notices and, if so, do they ask any questions about Rotary?
If someone does ask about Rotary, a good response may be an “elevator speech” but a better one might be something like PDG Michael Angelo Caruso suggests. He proposes something like, “Joining Rotary was the best decision I’ve ever made.” I have also heard, “It’s my weekly 90 minute massage.” In any case, the idea is to personalize the conversation and invite further discussion. When you get to details and need some help, you can go to our website at www.a2rotary.org or pick up a club business card at a luncheon. I’d be interested to hear the results of your participation in this “Challenge.”
p.s. This idea came from not removing the purple polish from my pinkie after our World Polio Day celebration.
