Rotary Large Club Conference – Long Beach 2019

CALL TO ACTION: We are all Agents of Change
Rotary Large Club Conference Long Beach 2019

The Long Beach Rotary Club gave a GIGANTIC welcome to the 117 participants representing 50 large Rotary clubs from across the nation.   Lori Walters, Executive Director, and Rosemarie Rowney, President Elect, represented Ann Arbor at the three day event February 10-13, 2019.  We attended their weekly luncheon meeting on the Queen Mary – quite a change from Weber’s!

The conference goal was to inspire and excite the Presidents Elect and Executive Directors about the mission they are about to begin as AGENTS OF CHANGE.  And excite us they did!  Lori and Rosemarie came back with many ideas ready to energize and strengthen our club together with you, the members.

There were awesome speakers on peace, malaria elimination and leadership.  Gates Foundation announced that they are matching 1:1 grants for malaria eradication.

As impressive as the speakers were from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy (retired). . . the best learning took place on the breaks and at meals where you could interact with peers who experience similar problems and successes as other large clubs.   What a delight to engage with fellow Rotarians who all emphasize Service above Self in their communities as different as Yakima, Washington to Chattanooga, Tennessee. to Chicago and Los Angeles.

Cruising Long Beach Bay on a Duffy Boat!

Drummin’ to the beat of 100 other Rotarians.
