On November 7, 2018, Assistant District Governor Anne Nauts awarded The Rotary Club of Ann Arbor (RCAA) the Rotary International (RI) Presidential Citation for the Rotary Year 2017 – 2018. This award reflects our club’s accomplishments in goals set by RI (past) president Ian Risely, which included achievements in his three focus areas of club health, public image, and international humanitarian service. Of the 53 clubs in our Rotary District 6380, 16 received the RI Presidential Citation. Clubs receiving the citation are listed here: https://clubrunner.blob.core.windows.net/00000050031/en-ca/files/homepage/rotary-citations-2017-2018/Rotary-Citation-17-18.pdf ..
The award acknowledges that our club met 29 of its 33 goals that it set for itself at the beginning of the Rotary year, including contribution to humanitarian projects, publication of its accomplishments through use of Rotary International means, collaboration with other Rotary and non-Rotary organizations, and increasing of giving levels. Unmet goals included membership count (we encouraged non-paying dues members to leave by year end, dropping our count) and number of volunteer hours (ambitious goal was set based on prior year, and many activities went unreported).
The citation was achieved thanks to the efforts of the donors of treasure, talent, and time of the club members and others who are acknowledged, with thanks, on pp. 30 – 33 of our 2017-2018 Annual Report: http://www.a2rotary.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Rotary-Annual-Report-2017-2018-On-Line.pdf .
