Pioneer Interact Helping End Summer Hunger!

Rotary has partnered with Food Gatherers to fight hunger in our community through the Rotary Fights Summer Hunger Food Drive, and the Pioneer Interact Club has been leading the effort! This food drive is a critical source of food for families with children who depend on free/reduced breakfast and lunch programs during the school year, as during the summer it is often more challenging to replace these low-cost school meals.

To bolster the program and increase awareness of the hunger problem we have in Washtenaw County, our Interact Club at Pioneer High School has been helping tremendously. They have partnered with local elementary schools to educate students about the drive and to promote donations of non-perishable food items. Students at Pattengill Elementary have already collected 102 food items!

Students at Pattengill Elementary collected 102 cans of food for the Rotary Fights Summer Hunger Spring Food Drive.
