When Jennifer Jones takes the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor’s virtual podium Wednesday, October 28th, she’ll be communicating to a group she knows well.
Jones is President Nominee of Rotary International and a familiar past regional leader of Rotary clubs in Michigan and Ontario, including Ann Arbor. She was an active supporter of past Rotary Club of Ann Arbor meetings and special events.
In a recently announced leadership role, Jennifer Jones will become President of Rotary International in 2022-2023 and will be the first woman to hold that office in its 115-year history.
While she will be the future leader of the world’s largest service club membership of 1.2 million, her roots in Rotary are remembered by the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor. In 2017, Jones was a featured presenter and moderator for the club’s signature World Peace Conference held at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor campus. Rotary members and attendees from across the country and globe came together for a weekend conference on peacebuilding talks and initiatives. She has worked collaboratively on projects with several past Presidents of the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor during her time as the region’s District Governor.
In her work for Rotary International, Jennifer Jones has played a leading role in its rebranding effort in recent years as Chair of the Advisory Group for the Strengthening Rotary initiative. Jones understands the role that diversity plays in the future of Rotary membership and cultivation: “I believe that Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) begins at the top and for us to realize growth in female membership and members under the age of forty – these demographics need to see their own reflection in leadership. I will champion double-digit growth in both categories while never losing sight of our entire family.”
Joanne Pierson, President of the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor, echoes the club’s enthusiasm for Jones’ selection as President Nominee-Elect, “Jennifer Jones has lent her time and talent to the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor generously during her role as an active and visible District Governor leader. We are thrilled to welcome her back to our club as a speaker to outline her vision for her upcoming role as President Nominee-Elect of Rotary International.”
Ms. Jones is one of Rotary International’s most recognized communicators. She has presented keynote addresses and training workshops at hundreds of conferences across North America and worldwide.
A Rotary member since 1977, Jones is a current Trustee of the Rotary Foundation. She was Vice-President of Rotary International in 2016-2017. Ms. Jones is founder and President of Media Street Productions, an award-winning media production company in Windsor, Ontario.
