Weekly Meeting - May 15: STRIVE Banquet

“Education,” noted Christine Gregoire, governor of Washington from 2005-2013, “is the foundation on which we build our future.” A solid education gives teenagers a healthy sense of self-respect, self-worth, self-actualization, and achievement.  As the Filipino writer Jose Rizal put it, they “are the hope of our future.” We have taken this to heart in the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor by partnering with the Ann Arbor Public Schools since 2010 to serve at-risk or under-performing students through the STRIVE (Students Taking a Renewed Interest in the Value of Education) program at Pathways To Success Academic Campus on Stone School Road here in Ann Arbor. One-on-one mentoring, tutoring, and individualized support are the foundation of STRIVE. This week, as the 2017-2018 school year draws to a close, we are awarding Washtenaw Communuity College scholarships to several outstanding STRIVE students as they graduate.
