2017 Tax-year VITA CLINIC In Full Swing

The Rotary sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax clinic is in full swing.  The month of January was spent training our volunteers with sessions on Thursday nights and Saturdays.  We operate primarily out of the Washtenaw County United Way office on Platt Road, but also do taxes at MI Works in Ypsilanti and have “scan and go” operations for our out-county county clients where their tax documents are uploaded to a confidential website and volunteers prepare their taxes from the documents provided.  Opening night this year at the United Way site was Thursday, February 1, and we have been operating every Thursday night and every Saturday since then, with MI works operations on Tuesdays.  We have several Rotarians that are contributing, and the Club provides financial support to the overall operation.  The demand for our services continues to grow, and we are getting several clients that have been referred to us by Rotary members.  A full report on the results of this years clinic will be provided at the end of tax season in April.  Thank you to our Club and to our members that are supporting this work.
